Process for becoming a Board Member with Yoga Outreach

 

What to expect when inquiring, applying and interviewing for Board Membership with Yoga Outreach:

Get the process started by reading the materials below.  We have linked the Board Member Application and other pertinent information below.

Submit your application: Within five business days of receiving your application, Yoga Outreach’s Executive Director, Delanie Dyck will let you know if you’ve been selected for a first interview.

Interview process:

  • First round candidates meet with the Executive Director by phone/skype for a 30 – 45 minute interview.
  • Second round candidates meet with the Board Chair, Laura Track and Vice Chair, Melanie Trepanier for a 1hr interview.
  • Third round candidates are invited to an upcoming board meeting. Board meetings are held by-monthly.

Within five business days after the board meeting interview: Board Chair shares board decision with candidate. Selected candidates will be extended an invitation to join the board.

At minimum, this process takes six weeks but the process can take up to three months.

Board Member Application

Please complete this form and submit along with your resume. As an organization, Yoga Outreach is dedicated to building an organization that reflects the diversity of our membership and the communities we serve. This includes diversity in languages spoken, culture, race, sexual orientation and gender identity.   • We facilitate programming in the areas of mental health, addictions, at-risk youth, prisons, seniors, with women and children who have experienced violence.
    Attend Board orientation and training Attend by-monthly board meetings Attend/participate in all Yoga Outreach fundraisers Respond to all email/phone communications within 48 hours.
    Board members are required to participate in all fundraising activities (attending events, soliciting donations, acting as an ambassador for the organization) and make an annual financial contribution. We ask board members to set this amount thoughtfully and not create any hardship. Our preference is for board members to set up a monthly donation.
    As a new Board member you will be expected to digest a substantial amount of material to educate yourself on the organization's purpose, mission, operations, and needs. You will be asked to keep current on issues affecting the organization. You will also be expected to engage in learning about your role and responsibilities as a board member.
